Default 1995 Blazer Upper Ball Joint

I have been trying to replace both ball joints on the passenger side today and as I start thinking I am getting to the end of that side the upper ball joint is a problem or I am being stupid. The new one came with a metal sleeve with a rubber boot. I hve been trying to press it into the hole so it sits on top just below the ball joint. Trying being the main word. I have used a large c-clamp and two pieces of a 2x4 to try and press it in for over an hour and it is not going to go in. Am I being stupid and the metal sleeve goes on the bottom side? I found one how to which said it was supposed to go into the hole from above like I have been trying. Just thought I'd ask here before I go insane.
Thanks

I've had some like that. You put the rubber boot through the ring and it goes under the control arm. So you drop the ball joint through and then put the sleeve on and bolt together.

Thanks. That is how I ended up doing it. Just finished reassembling everything and took it for a test drive. Passenger side did great but now comes the driver side tomorrow. It should go much quicker since I learned from today.
