Default 1995 multi port fuel injection SPIDER

Ok, I recently developed a misfire. Figured a code would pop, but no such luck. Pulled plug wires from the distributor one by one. Each one made it run crappier, up until #2, front on passenger side. No difference. So... figured bad wire, or bad plug, or prob w/ distributor.

WRONG.

Plug good, wire good, distributor good, checked for spark @ plug and good.

So... checked the distributor carefully, no cracks in cap or rotor, connections close and clean.

Pulled the upper half of the intake off... mind you this engine was just put in, and the upper and lower halves of the intake were well cleaned before installation.

They were a MESS!!! rather dark w/ what looked like carbon, but it was oily feeling. There were small pools of gas in each spot where gas could pool. So... great.... probably a fuel spider problem. HOWEVER... turned the key to run, and watched for fuel to leak. I don't see any leakage.

So... is this a problem where I replace the spider, and reseal the injector, and I'm ok... or is something else wrong?

All help appreciated.

Can you post a pic of the intake / carbon print? It might help us see where fuel could be leaking.

ok, photos in the works... next question though? What else could cause fuel all over the inside of the intake? If it's not the spider then it's??? what???

Fuel leaks inside the plenum on the CPI engines are most commonly caused by a failed FPR followed by a failed 'nut kit' (internal fuel lines).

yes, in my case it was a failed nut kit, but before tearing it apart i bought everything that i could replace inside the plenum, and all along it was nut kit ($50), but since i couldnt return the spider, i just replaced that as well. Its not as hard as the mechanics make it seem thus trying to charge $250 just open and close the plenum. it took me no more than 15min to remove the cover, heck it took longer to replace the nut kit than everything else.

Yeah, pulling the plenum is a breeze. Mine was a fuel pressure regulator.

Default stumped

Ok..sorry for no pics yet, digital is givin me trouble,

but.. I'm stumped. I've got the intake top half removed of course.

When I turn the key to "run", but not to start, I hear the fuel pump run, and I can watch the fuel lines from the tank to the engine, from the intake to the spider, and from the spider to each poppet. And I don't see any leaks.

But there's fuel in the intake.

Plus... the more I think about a "nut kit" the more I think it won't do the trick....

here's my thinking.

Only one cylinder is misfiring.

Wouldn't a leak from the main hoses, cause problems on all cylinders instead of just one?

If I had one fuel injector per cylinder, I'd say I've got a clogged line, or a bad injector on that cylinder. But with this spider, I'm stumped.

Suggestions?
