Where would I look to see if it is hooked up to the engine? I am a newbie when it comes to working on this so I can use all the help I can get. The breaks are not the best on this so that could cause that too.

I found the problem today and all I have to do is fix it now. I found that the vacuum part on the motor was broke off and no vacuum was getting out. So I have orderd the new part and will put it on in the morning.

The vacuum ball does not really work with the booster supply line. You may still have brake assist, but if the vacuum line to the rest of the vacuum powered accessories was broken (as is the case here), it would really only affect those accessories not receiving the proper manifold vacuum pressure.
