Default 1996 Blazer 4.3 V6 Cranks, but won't start!

Went outside started my blazer and it started just fine. Turned it off, 10 minutes later, it just cranked and cranked but would not start. Kept trying until the battery died. So my friend came over and gave me a jump. It still would crank (with a sputter in between) but would not start, so my friend said its not the battery. So he did something with a shreider valve under the hood, and gas just sparyed out real real fast, then he said "its not a fuel problem." The he took a screwdriver, removed a spark plug wire from the cap/distributor (I guess thats what it called, thing on top of the engine where all the spark plug wires connect to), he put the screwdriver by the hole he removed the spark plug wire from and asked me to try to start it again. When I did that, he sounded almost certain I needed some new spark plugs and thats why it was not starting (they have not been changed in over a year...I know slap myself ). So I am on here to see if it is spark plugs is what I need (based on what you have read above) If not, what else should I be looking into?

Default no start issues

well dude I just got done with that problem.

Defiantly replace the plugs, Cap and Rotor, Then before you put the plugs in plug in ground them and have some one crank the motor and see if they spark. If there isn't a nice big blue spark your problem is deeper.

Your defiantly in the rite place for help. Mine was a real pain in the ***. I had to take it to a shop and $850 dollars later the motor went bad ( broken rod ). Now its getting a new motor. They are just xfering over my intake and acc's. Well in the process they found the spider was broke. When it did run for 10 miles or so it ran great, I can't wait to drive it when it's hitting on all 6 cylinders.

My saga is long... I sure hope yours is better.

Read the threads at the beginning of this form for a trouble shooting flow chart. Sticky has laid it out for everyone. He has a trouble shooting guide for every issue. I have been helped out by lots of people and I can't thank them enough.

Keep us informed with your progress.

Default Update!!

Well... I got under the Blazer, I changed all the spark plugs and wires(by the way, this is my first time changing spark plugs on any SUV). Also bought a new battery in the process. Drumroll.................It started!!! I also wanted to put out there, for all the people still talking about that #3 spark plug is so hard to get to or whatever....BullS&%$! If you have the right socket (its a spark plug socket they sell with a swivel extension already on it ) , AND GO THROUGH THE WHEEL WELLS...I got it out with no problems, did not have to move anything what so ever (but the tires to get to the spark plug location)!! The trick is to put the socket on the plug first, attach extension, then get it loose, take the socket off and unscrew the rest of it by hand, comes right out, put the new one in, got it hand tight, and reversed the process, and the rest was just cake. Its not alot of room, but you don't need it, its just enough to get it out. I think I might make a video to show ppl how easy it is (at least for a 96 Blazer). Again thanks Blazer forums...if anything else happens, this will be the place I come to first. (I will be adding a new cap/rotor also this weekend)

Congrats on your repair. Also keep in mind an intermittent failing ignition switch also shows like symptoms, so if by chance it happens again and is not the fuel pump, you may need to replace ignition switch.
