Default 1997 blazer fuel tank

I still cant track down source of gas fumes, seems to be the most in the area of drivers door. In seeing a picture of a new tank at advance auto i see a hole where the fuel pump goes and at other end a smaller hole,, what goes there? that possibly m,ay be the source of my fumes, is that a sensor or what?[]This is a 4-dr. All other lines and the filter appear to be intact and no leaks. thanks guys.
