Default 1997 Blazer heat/air shut off

yup. When I turn on the incoming air all the way up to 4, it shuts off completely like it's acting when it's at 0. It only shuts off at 4.

all the rest like 1, 2, 3, works perfectly fine. Heat comes one at all of them with force, but number 4 doesn't have any force behind it at all and completely shuts off. If someone can give some some advice on how to fix this and what the problem is, that would be great! muah! thanks. toddles.

Well, you could start by testing the plug at the blower motor and make sure the voltage/amperage increases respectively with the position of the control switch, this would rule out the possiblity of the switch it self being bad... and if you do have increases in all positions, there may be a problem with just the motor at the higher position.. If no power on 4, it could be a result of the resistor being bad, the switch, or bad wire.....

ok, can't find the blower relay and switch. But, is the blower resistor right on top of the blower?

where's the relay and switch?

Check the blower motor resistor. That's probably it. Mine had the same problem YEARS ago, but I had a mechanic fix it and I have NO clue what he actually did. Here's a link that will help a little, but the 1994 pic was not an accurate depiction of my 1994, so take it as a general clue as to where it is.

I'm about to post my own thread, but I'll drop it here too in case anyone in here is reading and knows the answer to my problem.

My blower motor quit entirely on ALL settings. Naturally I simply replaced it and the new one ran fine for about two weeks before it did the same. What the heck is going on?!?! I didn't think about it being the resistor at the time, and even now I doubt that's it because the resistor controls speed. If the resistor dropped in ohms-value enough to blow the motor, then my motor would have been spinning screaming fast before it died. What's going on?!?
