Kinda new here, had the blazer for a few months, it's my 3rd S10 blazer but the only one i've ever had problems with.

1998 4x4 4dr S10 Blazer

symptoms:
- gets 14 mpg.
- it will eventually crank if i just turn the key but it has to turn over for several seconds
- if i pump the gas pedal though it cranks quicker but still not as quick as it should...
- the engine runs cold, about 120 degrees. replaced thermostat and no change

 

Do you run all time 4x4? When I run 4x4 I get about 15 mpg.....

The cranking symptoms, no idea.... But I imagine if you are running cold there has got to be something wrong.....

 

I run 4x4 most of the time in the winter because I live in Alaska, but it's not in 4x4 at the moment.

 

Have you tried checking your battery it might not have enough cold cranking amps for your location.
