Alright guys my truck will not locking into 4x4 i can go in both 4low or 4hi it will change the gearing and i can here the the t case motor moving sounding like it is locking it in but when i hit the gas only the rear wheels spin?

I checked all the vacuum under the hood they are all fine, The vacuum actuator is working fine and the cable feels like it is pooling fine? I'm going to check the lines on the t case on wed, But i just got get the the front wheels are not spinning?

With the truck in 4x4 jack up the front end and grab the driveshaft coming out of the transfer case to the front end. Try to spin it. If it doesn't spin then you know the problem is not in the transfer case.

Then if the transfer case is working move on to the front axle shafts. Go to each wheel and spin them and see if they spin. If they dont then the front axle is engaging. If they do spin or just 1 spins then youve narrowed down the problem.

If you can feel the gear reduction, it is probably not in the transfer case. More than likely it is something with the vacuum lines, or in the front axle.

You need to check to see if the t-case is engaging in both 4Hi and 4Lo, but since you say you feel the gear reduction in 4Lo, I am led to believe it's working there. If the t-case is working in both 4Hi and 4Lo, the problem lies somewhere else. Low t-case oil would have nothing to do with it if the front axle is not engaging.

Okay so we know that the transfer case is locking up, now with the t-case locked in 4Hi, u need to find a way to get the front end up in the air, so that you cant try to spin the tires by hand.

There is a shift collar that has to slip over the splines inside the passenger axle tube.

Also, when you say you think the cable is moving enough, it needs to move approximately a half inch or more to properly engage the front axle

4hi tires spin freely in air by hand so its not locking in?
