What do you mean you traded the intake manifold? Did this motor have the older aluminum intak on it? I don't have my truck in front of me to compare to but this looks like one of the pre96 motors to me. I coil be completely wrong hopefully someone will chime in soon. Off hand I know my oil filler neck is on the back passenger side of the motor not sure I that matters or not.

both engines had the black plastic manifold. the oil filler is on the drivers side of both engines.

Hmmmm.... well I really wish I had a motor to compare to in front of me!! Could it be the motor mounts? I think but am not certain that the mounts were taller in a 2wd. Either that or I think I remember reading that somewhere lol!

anyone know what this is... just broke it its right next to the dizzy hole, my guess is an oil pressure sensor.

I just reread my last post and meant to say that the 2wd mounts are shorter as they don't need the space for the front diff. That is the only thing I can think that would be causing the motor to sit lower and in the way.
Well hopefully someone smart (unlike me today) will come along and help out!

did you lower your transmission to get to the bell housing bolts? is the transmission connected to the motor when you tried the test fit?

i figgerd it out.. lol nevermind oil pressure sensor. the engines number is 2517655 the blazer is a 4wd, the replacement engine is from a 2wd
i have had it in and test fit and it was too deep for the mm and the front diff, but i think that may have been due to the oil pan being for a 2wd, i have the pan replaced with the 4wd pan and havent put it back in yet, just trying to cover the bases before i put it in and have to pull it back out AGAIN
