Default 1st to 2nd gear slip when warm, 98 4wd.

Having a gear slip from 1st to 2nd after she heats up, more on hot days, less on cold. 150k miles don't think trans fluid was ever changed. Shall I change and re-filter? Fluid appears slightly burnt and thin.
Thanks for the info!
Glenn

I would atleast drop the pan and put a new filter in. You may have to drop the pan and reinstall it, then fill the trans back up with fluid. Run it for a bit to circulate the new fluid, then repeat, replacing the filter once the fluid looks good. You should be able to get away with only dropping the pan twice. Or, when you have the pan off, install a drain plug. Makes subsequent transmission fluid changes much faster!

Install a TransGo shift kit for the 4L60E, should solve your problem before you need to do a rebuild.
