2 Part Question trans/evap code.
96 4.3 4x4 250k on the clock.
List of things replaced in teh last 1k miles.
FPR, Fuel Filter, intake gaskets, injectors, cap/rotor, plugs, plug wires, water pump, all new coolant lines, vacuum lines, thermo, radiator, coolant temp sensor, purge solinoid, oil pump, timing set, oil pan gasket, timing cover, trans fluid flush with filter bla bla bla bla.
Ok so now when I go from reverse to drive the truck wants to chug or start to stall. The only thoughtthat I had is that I used a bottle a Lucas when I did my trans fluid change. It seems to be worse when cold and that Lucas is as thick as dog s*!t when cold. So it is not letting torque con drain fast enough bogging the engine.
Next I am having an issue with the CEL. Cant remeber the code number but it reads "evap emissions failure". I did a smoke test with no leaks, replaced purge solinoid above rear axle, I have yet replaced the one in the intake manifold. Could this be it.
One thing to add 54PSI fuel pressure and 2lbs after 30min so it is not a fuel pressure issue.
Cheers

The fuel pressure issue could be part of your stumble on gear change.
As far as the evap code, really need the number to recommend a direction for troubleshooting.

There is no fuel pressure issue. I might have mis spoke, I lost only 2lbs after 30 min. What else could it be?

54psi is kinda low. Have you monitored your fuel pressure while driving? That takes a little creative ingenuity.

Not yet. I did it before. I just the gauge up under the windshield wipers and tape it down. I will do so and report back with my findings.

Ok back in the states. I pulled the number P0440, total evap failure. I also took a fuel pressure, at start it is 54psi driving it has a range of 45 to 60. No real pattern to RPM. It kinda feels like the timming is out a smudge. The only thing is, the distributer has never been out of the truck.
