ok, standing volts on the battery are 11.51, and at the wire with the key on is the same 11.51 volts but the headlights came on and pulled the bat. down some.....

The 10ga red wire goes to the battery, it's good. The alternator is grounded to the engine. The only thing left is the ability of the PCM to send voltage to the alternator, which it does.... Bad alternator.

Well, I finally got around to replacing the Alt. After getting it all put back together and started it..... So far so good... Everything seems to be in working order. But to be on the safe side, tomorrow I'm going to go out and check the voltages to make sure that all is well.....Thanks for all the help. I'm sure I'll need it again.....lol

OK, now that I've gotten to drive it some, it seems tht when i first strt it cold after a min. everything is normal. but after the engine gets warm and I shut it down upon restart the battery light stays on and the volts drop to about 10Volts. Plus I've noticed that the tach, gas gauge, temp gauge and mph aren't working... but randomly all of a sudden ll the dash lights pop on and everything starts working again.
Could this be the PCM??? If not, what???LOL

Have you checked voltages since replacing the alternator? Just like little kids cleaning their bedroom.... You have to inspect what you expect just cuz it's new, doesn't mean it's good.

Ok, I just went out fired the best up and everything was operating normally. So I turned everything on and off, well everything but my sunroof..... and it was working like a champ. When I started, the Bat. was at 12.00 volts, And while running it showed 14.53 volts at the bat.and 14.45 on the bat wire of alt....So I let it idle for about 5 min. or so to get to operating temp. and shut it off. I waited a few mins. then started it again and thats when the Bat. light stayed on and the volts were now 11.81 while running. And the gauges were normal.....all but the voltmeter.... It seems to do this after its warmed up. So what on earth could this be?? LOL

Was the 11.81 at the battery?? What was the reading at the small red wire? That one comes from the PCM and commands the alternator to charge. If that shows battery voltage, it's the same thing you had with the other alternator. We need to know what the voltage is when it's acting up.

while its running, 11.42 at the batt. and 11.43 at the 10 gauge wire on the alt..... LOL, I guess thats what I get for trying to save a few bucks....... Gonna pull this alt. and upgrade to the lifetime duralast alt.....

Duralast, at any level, is a problem.
