Ok So replaced intake . Set distributor back in . #1 piston up and on compresion stroke, rotor lined up on the (6) on base as it should ( and #1 Piston). Engine tries to start, but just chugs for a minute or so before it dies. NO backfire. SO i am read Timing relearn ( need steps for it also) my be needed. I cannot find the timing disconnect anywhere. Everything i read states A single tan/blk connect located on passenger side inside. took carpet up/glove box out --no luck --- Welcome all comments and suggestions

You dont need a relearn that is for a crank sensor. There is no timing to set, so no wire to disconnect. That is for older models.
Check the distributor again:
Installation Procedure 2
Wiring correct?

Check fuel pressure also.

Wiring is correct--double/triple ck--fuel pressure is good---all wiring in connected and all vaccum hoses right too. 180 degrees out i though about--- but it shouldn't attempt to run like it does or at least backfire if that was the case. I will try and relign everything again. after a break from it to start with a clear head and vision. thanks. Welcome replies

Burned is right about the P1345 setting in memory, but engine rpm has to get above 2K before it will set. Are you sure you have the crank aligned right?

It should start if you're on #1 TDC compression, and most likely backfire through the intake if you're on #1 TDC exhaust, (180 degrees out of phase). The crankshaft makes two revolutions for each revolution of the distributor

i have read many reports on this forum about the same issue with NO start after intake replaced. BUT almost all have no resulotion to them except fuel pump --but my fuel pump is working great. PSI is correct. I am open to any suggestions for this NO START issue. I have worked with engines for years but this one has me stumped.
