Thumbs down 2000 Blazer temp guage problem

As you can see from pic my guage is a little inaccurate. Is it fubar? Trip to bone yard and new cluster I'm guessing. I checked and the connector isn't attached to the temp sensor because the plastic top of sensor is broken. Thanks in advance.

according to the GM service manual there is some tests for verification but they pretty much said that a cluster replacement would be required.

Most gauges work on a ground setup. Without being all the way hooked up they usually peg out. before you do anything else put a new sending unit in so you can plug it in and it may work

Could be the pointer got loose on a peg and is dangling donwside. Especially if the position is permanent, on a cold engine (with ignition off) and while running.

If not - hook with a dongle and lookup the coolant temp readings.

Well checked the temp sensor and replaced it and no change. Went to boneyard got a new speedo cluster and all is well, but I'm a bit poorer though and my Bazer also gained 50k miles sitting in the garage. lol Thanks all.

I had to replace my gauge cluster too when my speedometer needle would act as if it got stuck as certain speeds and then jump up or down to the new speed. I gained about 68k miles.

After I did this I found a place on the web that refurbishes the individual gauges. Cost wise I think it would have been a wash between that and one from a boneyard.
