My 2000 Blazer wouldn't start this morning until I shot a bit of starting fluid in the air cleaner tube. After it started, it ran fine. I drove it to the local 7-11 twice, shutting it off each time. I then drove it 50 Miles to Brooklyn. Ran fine. 5 hours later, I went to start it and it wouldn't start again without the ether. Again, ran fine the 50 miles home. Went to start it immediately after shut down, and no start. (Haven't tried ether yet)

In addition, yesterday I was driving home and went to kick in the passing gear and it revved but wouldn't go. Very bizzare. This is definitely a fuel problem, but the fuel pump was replaced 3 years ago with a Delphi unit. (Not cheap, mind you)

I know other people have had these issues, so I'm looking for some suggestions.

I'm probably taking it to the shop tomorrow if I can get it started.

BTW: I bought the Blazer with 50K on it and now I have 180K on it..Im looking to go 200K.

 

i say start by checking the fuel pressure

Sounds like a fuel pressure issue. My guess is the fuel pump isn't priming enough to start the engine but has enough pressure and flow to keep the engine running.
Also have you checked the fuel filter?
