Default 2000 LT Four Wheel Drive

In an effort to get my pre-winter checks done I went to switch into four wheel drive today and the light blinked, I put it in gear and it will not shift. It won't change to four hi or low...any help would be greatly appreciated.

The switches on the dash(plastic with tin foil contacts) are notoriously fragile, especially after a hot summer! Easy to check as they pop right out. If the switch appears to be OK,then you have the usual transfer case solonoid problem-again a very simple R&R
At least that is what I have experienced...
