im wondering if anyone knows what the timing should be set to i know its computer controlled but i think at some point someone had adjusted it its a 4 wheel drive 4.3 auto

There is no adjustment aside from removing the distributor and putting it in at a different tooth location.

The EDI Engine Timing thread in the Tech Article (DIY) section will detail the procedure for properly setting the timing in your truck.
