Exclamation 2001 Blazer A/C question

I am moving to Florida soon and would like the A/C to be working really good.

Problem is that the A/C cuts off sometimes.

I replaced the receiver/ dryer and compressor.

I have 145K on the clock.

There is enough oil in the system and refrigerant by my gauge.

It gets cold but sometimes it just shuts off for no reason.

Does it matter if the A/C Expansion Device was replaced or not?

Thanks

Jim

What are the conditions when it is cutting off? Outside temperature? Slow speeds?

Also, is it just that the HVAC system stops blowing cold air or is it something different (fan cuts out, etc)?

I have a 2000 and experience the same thing. Mine is really cold when it works but it is almost like the thermostat just cuts it off. Strange thing is the heat did the same thing this winter. It does have the automatic climate control

It was 89 degrees today, and it was flaky.

right now i just came back from going to the store and it is 79 degrees and the A/C worked flawlessly.

It was flaky today at any speed.

Also in stating that i'm moving to Fl, I'm wondering; how can I tell if I have a tow package or not?

I'll be towing a u-haul behind the Blazer and I just don't want to burn up the tranny.

Thanks!

Jim

The fans don't cut out, the air just gets warm and I don't hear the A/C unit on.

I can hear if the A/C unit is on or not. It's not loud or anything but I'm so used to certain sounds of the Blazer...

Have you cleaned the outside of the condenser up front? Sounds like the system pressure is getting too high, triggering the high pressure cutout switch. This could be a result of having some bugs/debris built up in the condenser in front of the radiator.

I just cleaned the condenser this weekend. Whilst I was at the Junkyard I saw a 2001 blazer and the low pressure switch looked good.

So I removed it and installed it on my blazer, then I rechecked the pressure and found it was a little low.

I filled it to where it is supposed to be.

It seems good now, blowing cold air @ 89 degrees.

I hope it stays that way!!!!!

Thanks Guys!!!!!! much appreciated!!!!!!!!!

I hope when I get to florida in the 97 degree weather it is good also... we'll see....

Jim
