2001 Blazer Rattle
Hey,
I own a 2001 Blazer 4x4 with 180,000 miles on it that has this rattle. Presently, I have the passenger side of the dash/glove box/kick panel apart and everything is tight below the air bag. I removed the black cowl pieces behind the hood, made sure no terminal blocks for the wiring hardnesses are hitting anything to rattle, if they were close I wire tied them sensibly. I took the car for a drive but it still rattles with most of everything tore apart.
To me from experience of working on older cars, it sounds like a bad sway bar link, but the underneathe of the car without pulling the wheel seems tight. The slower I go the more apparent the rattle is over bumps. Also, the rattle seems to be worse when the Blazer is on the road for about 5 minutes. Sounds weird, but I don't know if something is changing due to heat or what. I was also wondering if it could be in the heater core area. I don't believe that area of the car has every been torn apart though.
If someone could please point me in the right direction it would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi peidmontfbody. Thank you for the quick reply. It is a 'knocking rattle' like bolts in a plastic jar. I took a look at the link you sent me and I am definitely going to put the shock into high consideration. Tomorrow, I am going to pull the passenger front wheel off and take a look at the shock unless I get a message from you saying otherwise. It was the only shock that was replaced and it is where I am becoming suspicious.
when it does it pop the hood to the adjar position and see if it changes or goes away. Possible hood hindge/bolt-nut looseness that I'm sure you can search this site for all the info needed to fix, if needed. Just my two cents and today it's on sale for FREE!
