2001 CHEVY BLAZER LT issues
alright I love my truck
we have had it for a little over a year now, and have driven it everywhere and have never had an issue with it.
then we drive up a few hours from the house, and the tranny goes out in it. we got lucky got it to a dealership, they had the
truck for a week, had the insurance adjuster look at it, yada yada yada, a week later we get it back. cost us a little, even though still under warranty. that was about 3 or 4 weeks ago. the other day a big snow storm was coming the next day, so I hit the button to get it into 4wd just to test it out, and nothing. the light just blinks at me and goes back to 2HI. Today I took it to my dealership, had them take a look see. they said its the transfer case decoder motor that went bad, they have to order it, and then I can go back and get it fixed. I just think these 2 problems are related. 4wd worked fine before the transmission went out, now we get it back and it doesn't work. what gives here ?

Seems like a stange coincidence that the encoder motor would fail just after a tranny repair.
If they pulled the tranny out they would have to have disconnected the wiring to the encoder motor but they wouldn't have to touch the encoder motor itself.
Did they check it out to see if they reconnected the wiring and is this also under warranty?
Did you tell them that the 4Wd worked before the tranny repair?
edited for spelling mistakes....uggg!

yeah I thought that was kind of strange myself. they tested it today and said that is what the problem is. these are 2 different dealerships separated by hundreds of miles. so the tech up at the dealership at one place could have disconnected something, and I guess the tech at the dealer here couldn't find the problem. this will also be a warranty repair, problem is they want a $100 deductible every time we use the thing, what a racket that is. why pay for it, when you have to pay $100 to use it. It cost us about $325 to get the tranny fixed, by time they added the deductible, the rental fee, oil change, and of course tax. granted this is a very small price to pay, but if I'm paying for a warranty should I still be paying anything else.

It's not much of a consolation, but I'd much rather pay the $100 deductable than the $1000's it would cost without the warranty.
They seem to have so many different warranty options.

If your warranty has a deductible, you're kind of stuck in paying it. Transmission work, depending on what they did, for $325 isn't all that bad. $100 for the encoder motor also doesn't sound bad.

well I found out the real deal today. the warranty won't pay for anything this time. they say the encoder motor isn't included in the warranty. of course it isn't, grrrrrr. I still think that when they rebuilt the transmission they screwed it up some how. just need some one besides a damn dealership to look at it. right now I'm looking at $835 to fix it. I say screw no 4wd then, and I guess I wasn't even supposed to take the truck yesterday, well screw that, its mine and its where it belongs, away from them

I'm a little late with this reply, but I had to get my 2 cents in. I have a 2000 LT 4x4, which I recently had to do some major work on. New tranny+ no warranty= almost $4000.00. Sad part is, she only has 118 k on it. I guess I must really love her to pay that. Good luck with yours.

RE: 2001 CHEVY BLAZER LT issues
yeah mine has a shade over 120k on it, and I do love the truck.
but I don't have $830 to pay for this repair. it was also suggested on another forum to disconnect the
battery for 30 minutes which will reset the computer, well this did not fix the problem

I'd put in a phone call to General Motors and relay your experience and results at the dealership.
If you don't ask...you don't get...
