2001 Endgate Trim

I have a problem with the endgate window... it won't release. I have accessed the "emergency" access via the endgate but to no avail. Is there a way to remove the endgate trim without the "big hammer" approach of "Ask.com" or simply ripping it off? It appears that the release mechanism is either jammed or that a linkage has broken or become disconnected. I even tried to access the window mounting bolts to no avail.
Any fairly non-destructive solutions?
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!1
I cannot get the endgate window of my 2001 Blazer to open. I have accessed the "emergency release" in the endgate to no avail. I also tried accessing the window bolts, also to no avail. I am guessing that a linkage has either broken or jammed. It appears that the only way to access the linkage is via the removal of the endgate trim... with the endgate in the closed position.
Is there a way to do this without resorting the the Ask.com solution of "big hammer"? I would like to do this with minimal damage, if possible. Or should I simply consider the matter "closed" and live with it as it?

yes there is a bolt in the handle strap on the passenger side of the gate..remove the bolt and the rest of the trim is held on with clips.

Search the forum. This is a WELL documented problem. If you cannot get the window to release via the hole under the carpet on the rear trim panel, you will have to break the trim right where the center hump is near the window latch and go in through there to pop the latch.
And please be patient. Do not create multiple posts all on the same topic in multiple different locations. This is prohibited by the forum rules.
