2001 jimmy 4x4 help

Default 2001 jimmy 4x4 help

i recently purchased a 2001 gmc jimmy with 94k with push button 4x4
i can put it into 4 wheel drive fine then when i go to put it into 2wd again the button wont work
i have to turn the truck off and start it again to put it back into 2wd
what is going on?

i had to replace a transfer case but 4wd would not work at all for me. sounds like it engages alright but will not disengage. i dont know if the actuator controls that or not. sound like it is what ever controls the release.

hmm could be the switch itself that's bad A mechanic told be try hitting the dash right above the button and poof it worked. short in the switch.

does 4lo work and do you have a auto 4wd button

im not sure if the 4wlo work and yes i have a auto 4wd button
if they wont work will that tell me something?

well it depends on what works and what doesnt. if they all work but dont disengage back to 2wd i would bet your switch is fine. theres a couple different ways to get into 4lo. put it in drive and DO NOT GO MORE THAN 3MPH until it shifts into 4lo. or put it and neutral then push 4lo. the 2nd one is going to take longer and the 1st one is the recommended one. for auto 4wd put it in drive and be moving when you push the button this will not take as long as 4lo will. on mine i can only shift out of auto under 20mph. see if this works. if it does we can go from there knowing your switch is not the problem

ok the switch is fine
i can move through all the 4wd hi lo 2wd. but when the service 4wd comes on none of the buttons work. when i unplug my battery and it resets everything everything works again until the service 4wd light come on
what is going on?
