Default 2001 Rear window latch

Hey everyone,

So the back linkage for the window inmy 01 Blazer 2dr,4x4 is busted

When I press the button, it makes noise like it's trying topop openthe window, but it dosn't. Any suggestions for getting this open. (I can't open the tailgate or window to access the stuff inside)

Thanks

Hey Guys,

Before drilling any holes I checked with a Blazer manual I have... It's for 2001 2dr Blazers (mine), don't know if it's good for any others. Annyways...

Underneath the window in the actual tailgate section of the door there is actually an access hole underneath the carpet for a slotted screwdriver to release the latch manually. I will be checking this out in the morning to verify and hopefully open my dumb window If this is actually there I will take some pictures for other people having trouble with it. Sorry toswartlkk, I'll be trying your method if this dosn't work- not a fan of drilling holes

There has been a lot of talk about this hole, but we did not find this hole when we took apart the one in the photos shown in those posts. You may get lucky and I hope you do.

So I must be the one lucky person. I found a notched area underneath the window latch area and it pushed right through with barely any force... except for peeling back the carpet which suckedsomething crazy. There is another access hole directly behind the one in the plastic through a metal casing protecting the latch area I'd assume. It says t just move the latch over to release the window, but it's still the same result I get when I press the button... starting to make me angry. And now it's time to start with everyone else's ways of doing this . I'll take a picture of the hole for Chev's sake proving it's there.

Here are the few pictures I took of 'the hole'

After fiddling around with a screwdriver I managed to pry the latch arm up to release the window. Followed shortly by stepping out the back hatch trying to impersonate Darth Vader with sound effects thanks to thewindow arms

And aquick picof my boss's GT40... I want it

Sorry for the pics, not too great with the whole uploading and all yet

That's great! From the pictures, I can say for sure that the rear tailgate that I disassembled did not have that hole. Good thing for you that yours did. That way you didn't have to drill any holes. For the ones that have to drill a hole, you can get many different sizes of hole plugs to put back in place, many times hiding the hole in plain sight, making it look like it was there from the factory.
