2002 4x4 4dr Blazer Fuel Tank
Just bought a used 2002 Blazer 4x4 4drLS w/underbody spare tire well.
Runs good and the mileage is right at expectations(15-20) except I barely get 175 miles out of the tank before I have to refill! What size tank are these things suppose to have?
If it is normal, is there any practical way I can increase the range on this sucker? I do a lot of 400 mile trips and this could get very annoying if I gotta stop for gas three times, expecially since I know the fuel pump gets damaged if the tank runs dry. Help?

That is the same that mine gets. I gat close to 200 miles in the winter, and a little over 200 in the summer. Now if I get on the freeway,I can push about 250- 275miles between fillups. Korey.
175 miles is highway driving. Basically, I'm using about 8 gallons before the "Low Fuel" light comes on, which seems toagree with the gauge.
Yeah, based on what you guys have said, something isn't right with the gas gauge. Suggestions, tips?

So when you fill up you only put 8-10 gallons in? I have seen alot of fuel gauge floats go bad inside the tank, but usually that causes the gauge to bounce all over the place. But if you only fill 8-10 gallons at a time I would find out what size tank you have, then if you have the 14 gallon tank, you could have the float checked in the tank. Korey
The 4 door should have an 18 gallon tank. I would suggest taking it to the dealer. have it check for a bulletin to
Reprogram PCM to Correct Fuel Gauge Issues. Maybe you can get it done under warranty.

98 4dr 4x4. My gauge always said E with a low fuel light at about 250 mi on the hwy. I'd fill up with 12-13 gallons. When my fuel pump went out in Dec I learned it's an 18 gallon tank and I was never even close to going empty. At nearly 20mpg I had a good 100 miles left in her. Now with the new pump and sending unit. I still get the same readings at the same milage. Seems to be a common problem on here.
