Good morning guys and gals,
My blazer is about to get a torch thrown into the engine bay!!!!!!
I have a 2002 ZR2 blazer. It has 128,xxx miles on it and The other morning I went out to start it and it would not start. It just cranks. I last drove it a week ago and it ran fine.
So far, I have checked all fuses. All are good. I checked fuel pressure. 63 PSI key on and during cranking. I had spark at the coil but no spark at the plugs. I replaced rotor and distributor cap and no change. I ordered a new distributor because of the play in the old one and I suspected the igniter module was bad.
Well I put the new distributor in and still will not start. I recheck everything. Fuel pressure still good and fuses all good.
But now I have no spark at the coil. Sounds to me like something is wrong with the new distributor.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks

If you have no spark out of the coil, then the distributor is not the problem. How is the wiring to the coil and Ignition Control Module (ICM)? Perhaps it is the ICM itself, they do just fail all at once. Trouble is you can get a replacement, but if that is not the problem, most stores will not take it back.
Keep after it.

Thanks for the reply. But wouldn't it have to be something wrong with the new distributor since I had spark at the coil before replacing it? I was getting spark at the coil but not at the plugs so I assumed the ignition module in the distributor was the problem. I replaced the distributor with a brand new one and now there is no spark at the coil. I'll work on it more this weekend. I'll put the old distributor back in to see if the spark comes back to the coil.

You test for spark output from the coil by removing the high voltage lead from the input to the distributor that comes out of the coil, attach a grounded spark tester and crank the engine. The distributor is not involved in the test. If this is what you are doing and you have no coil spark output then you need to forget the distributor for now (because the problem is in the other direction) and move on to determine the reason for no spark. It's now either the coil, ICM, PCM, or the crank sensor. There can be more than one problem but for now you need to restore spark at the coil.

Nope I haven't found the problem yet. I didn't get a chance to look at it this weekend with all the rain and life, haven't had a chance to mess with it. I will keep everyone updated when I look at it. Thanks.
