2002 S10 4WD ignition key stuck
The last couple of weeks I have had problems getting the ignition key to turn fully off and get the key out of the lock.
It has something to do with the shift lever getting in to Park. When it is working you can hear something clicking in the steering wheel column when the gear shifter is pushed all the way forward to Park. When it hasn't worked I have pushed the lever a bit further forward and the clicking noise is there and the key can be removed.
But today that simple fix isn't working any more. No clicking noise at all when getting in to park.
I guess there is some kind of electrical lock preventing the key to be moved further back to be released.
Is there a way to bypass it or what is needed to be replaced?
Any advice appreciated
Thanks

When moving around the cable going to the shift lever under the center console the relay for the brake lock, the thing that force you to press the brake pedal befor you can move the lever, activated. So wiggling the cable made the brake release move in and out.
Is the same cable involved with the ignition key getting stuck?

OK I have now changed the PNP switch on the trans and this problem is still there. The solenoid in the steering column is still dead and don't let me pull the key to OFF and remove the key.
I have an idea that in some way activate the solenoid by a switch instead so the key can be removed.
Can't find anything on this solenoid in the electric diagrams or where in the steering column it is located.
Please, any advice??
