I have a new 2004 Tahoe fuel pump assembly. My 2004 Blazer sending unit still works. Can I swap just the pumps?

 

Generally the fuel sending unit isn't meant to be taken apart. However, that doesn't mean it can't be done.

 

I have swapped fuel pumps if they are the same physical size. I installed a 90 corvette fuel pump in a 89 s10,while I had the box off. I used the corvette because thats what I had on the shelf and it fit in the assembly. Most of what I have found is the assembly is different from car to car but the fuel pump seems to be the same size. The fuel pressure reg will adjust the amount of return back to the tank.

 

One thing to check is to go to an on line catalog like Rock Auto. Put in the spec.s on your 2004 Blazer. Write down the recommended AC Delco fuel pump p.n.. Then go to a Corvette 2004 fuel pump and see if the same AC Delco p.n. is listed. If yes, you are good to go.
