4.3 Oil Pan Questions...
I got my 4.3 out of my 4x4 s10 blazer and I got a 4.3 out of a 97 2wd truck.
My pan is 3" deeper and the drain is in the back, the new one is even with bellhousing and drains to the side. I am putting the new motor in should I transfer my pan over to the new block or will this one work?

I thought that.
Is the diffrence in the 2 oil pans the diffrence between 2wd and 4wd. I kinda figured mine was built like it is to clear the front axle.
Thanks Swartlkk you have answered so many questions this week for me.

No, it should not be the difference between 2wd and 4wd, but unless your transmission has the full round bell housing that would bolt up to the 97 pan (aluminum I assume), you really are not gaining anything other than an o-ring style seal.
I am not saying that it would not work, but you should measure it out first to make sure that it is not going to be a problem.

Safest bet is to just use your pan.
I got to thinking about it and it should work either way, but without seeing the pans you are working with (96-97 was the transitional year for the pans so there were a few different ones), I really should not have made the comment I made above.

I went ahead and changed my pan and my oil pump to the new block. I done some looking and that other pan would not have cleared the fron diff. It come down at a angle where as mine is a L.
Putting the flywheel on first thing in the am and then dropping the motor in. Been without my blazer since december and I am excited to get it going.
