4L60E Issues
Highway driving about 2 hours or so...finally decide to put cruise control on. In about five minutes, I feel a jolt....trans slipped, just for an instant, but did this 3-4 times, I cancelled cruise, slowed down and the Check Engine Lite is flashing. I am in the middle of nowhere, so I keep going as everything seems fine. Some minutes later I notice that the RPMs are higher than what they were, I suspect that I am in D or 3rd gear instead of OD, 4th gear.
I continue on to my destination as it is the next town with the CEL flashing away. I have slowed down from 73mph to about 68mph (I am on a 75mph speed limit highway).
This has happened before but the CEL only flashed for about a minute.
I assume this is some transmission 4L60E error code.....what type of reader is required?
I sat in a parking lot for about an hour with hood open, then left to return the way I came....no problems all the way home, other than it was 108°F.
After doing more reading, I think what happened is the Torque Converter solenoid failed. I will probably just replace this as well as the other solenoids since I am in there. I know this is throwing parts at it, but I have no way of getting TCM error codes.
Trans fluid was changed 30k miles ago. There are no leaks. Fluid level is good.
Suggestions.....

I'd take it to a place where you could get any OBD codes read so to get a better idea as to what is going on.
You might even find it worth paying a transmission shop to diagnose the issue even if you do the work yourself.
