99 blazer zr2! it snowed for the first time the other day, so i decided to use 4wd, 2 questions, 4 hi didnt seem to engage, but 4lo did what can be the problem? also, is the litlle lite suppose to blink the whole time? any comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks

 

Light should blink while changing ranges and come on solid after it's shifted. As to what's wrong? A few possibilities. Might be the encoder motor can't get it in the 4-hi range. Might be the switch in the motor that's supposed to be closed when it's exactly in the 4-hi range is bad and the computer module doesn't see a "successful" shift so it reverts back to 2-hi. Might be a bad connection or a wire in the harness got pinched. Might be the transfer case is sticking because noone has checked the fluid since it left the factory (transfer case has it's own fluid, doesn't use the transmission fluid). Post vehicle information and maybe one of the resident experts has a good idea? does it have Auto-4WD?
