Default 4wd Operation ?

Couple of questions on details of the S10 Blazer 4wd operation:
1. When in 2HI, is the front differential turning?
I know the right front axle is dis-engaged from the front diff and the T-case is also not engaged.

2. If the answer to 1. above is yes, then is the front driveshaft rotating when in 2wd?

Just want to make sure I have the correct understanding of operation.

Thanks

For "shift on the fly" to work, the front driveshaft must be rotating. If it's not rotating when you perform a mode shift, (2HI to 4HI, or 4HI to 2HI) there would be some nasty grinding going on during the shift . In 2HI, the differential powers the driveshaft. In 4HI, the transfer case powers the shaft. In both cases, the driveshaft rotates at the correct RPM to allow a mode shift without grinding.
