Default 4x4 clicking noise

My problem started when i recently pulled my camaro maybe a foot as where it was being stored there was some snow so i had to give it a little tug. I put it in 4x4 high and once i started driving it very slowly, i started to hear this weird clicking noise. Once i turned the 4x4 it stopped. I drove the truck for a week and the noise never came back. Today, i moved my truck to the back of my house and there is still a good amount of snow where i am putting my blazer so i had to engage the 4x4 high and this clicking noise is back.I tried to determine if its coming from the front or the rear, and it seems like its from bolth front and rear. Does any one have some insight to what my problem is?

2003 ls 4x4 . 4dr, 87000 km, stock.

Most likely coming from the front. Your front axle is likely not engaging properly and the clicking is the collar inside the passenger side axle extension tube. This can be caused by a vacuum leak in either the vacuum line or the actuator itself (under the battery tray), a sticking cable (from the actuator to the front axle), or a faulty vacuum switch in the transfer case (if you have the 3-button switch in the dash).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was taught that you use 4Low when you're in loose dirt/sand or pulling something. 4HI is for general trail driving over 15 mph.

If you can pull something in 4HI, no reason to drop down in 4LO unless you really want to. There is no real reason for choosing one over the other for general tasks. Pulling a vehicle that is not stuck really does not require the use of 4LO.
