Default 4X4 Issue

I have a 2000 Blazer LT 4X4.

I have kind of a weird issue with my 4X4. As of now, my "Service 4X4" is lit up on the dash and my lights to switch from 4-Hi to 4-Lo ect. are not lit up. On occasion I will be driving or start up my car and the "Service 4X4" will turn off and my lights with turn on, and I can shift into 4X4 just fine, but then it will go back to not working at random times. Any idea what this might be? A loose connection somewhere?

Thanks!

Definitely sounds like a loose connection. I have seen the connection at the back of the switch come loose part way and cause this issue. I would start there. If that does not cure the problem, then have a look at the connection on the TCCM (behind passenger side kick panel) and the encoder motor (side of the transfer case) for signs of corrosion.

Thanks, I;ll give those a try. To get to the back of the switch, do I just need to remove the dash panel?

Thanks

The small panel the switch is in should just pop out if I remember correctly.

I popped out the switch on the panel, but all the connections look good. Where is the passenger side kick panel, and how do you remove it?

Thanks

It is the panel under the dash on the side. I cannot remember exactly how it is removed, but I think it just pulls off as well. Look for screws first though.

Strange, I took off the kick panel and all the connections look okay. I'll have to mess around with it some more and see what I can find.
