Smile 4x4 problem 99' LT

Hey You Guys 'n' Grils.

I'm not new here but I coulden't restart my old account, so I had to start over.

I've just bought back my old 99' LT after 6 years and someone hasen't been nice to it, and I got a problem.

With the 4WD, It's one of those models with a 4 botton 4wd, and it would not turn on, it keep going back in to 2wd, but a few times it did light-up in 4wd auto and it feels like it's blocking the front axel.

The guy from whom I bought, did say something about that it was ratteling in a relay.

I'm not sure what to do and which part to change, and before I waist a bunch of cash, I'll go ask You All, is You got an idea.

Do you want a guess, or do you want to diagnose it? Probably going to be an encoder motor. If you want to diagnose, you will need a digital multimeter and be able to read wiring schematics. Please advise.

Is the transfer case control module (TCCM) working and not clicking? (The clicking would be the relays not being able to be be set).
