Default 4X4 Problem please help!

I have a 1996 blazer 4.3l 4x4, yesturday I tried to put it in 4hi by pressing the button(electronic) and when I pressed it, the light came on but the 4x4 didn't engage; same thing when I tried 4lo. This is my first 4x4 so I have no idea what this could be or what to look for.....please help me troubleshoot!

Did you hear the actuator move. Like I can roll down my window and press 4hi and I can hear it engage. If you have a vacum 4x4 system then maybe you have a vacum leak?

The clicking sound may just be the relays you are hearing. If it is electronics 4wd, I would start by checking the electrical connector down at the actuator. Check for power when you switch it in to 4wd. Also use an ohm meter and see if one of the wires is a good ground. If you are getting good power to the actuator....I would pull it out and visually see if it is plunging. I am not sure exactly what the end of it will look like but usually a pin. Sometimes pins can shear. Just hold the unit and have someone hit the switch to see if it is working.

If theres no power to unit then check fuses and relays. But it you hear clicking you can assume the fuse is good.

I hope this helps you out
