Default 4X4 problems

I have a 1999 blazer and the other day i put it in four wheel drive to get it up onto some ramps. after i got out i noticed transmission fluid dripping from under the battery area, i removed the battery and the tray and noticed the actuator under there had a ripped boot on it and transmission fluid was leaking out of it. What could be causing this, from what i read im thinking the vacuum switch is bad, but which switch is it or is there something else wrong with it. I dont want to put the new actuator on it until i know if this is right or not, everything seems to work it still goes into four wheel drive, any help is very helpful.

Thanks for no ones help on this one, but if anyone else has this problem it is the transfer case switch causing transmission fuild to go to the actuator

Sorry that no one responded, but this is a very common problem that is well documented in the Tech Article (DIY) section amongst a multitude of other threads.

Glad you got it fixed!

Just to make sure you don't have any other problems, pull the fill plug on the back of the transfer case. If fluid pours out, you also have a transfer input seal leak that is allowing transmission fluid to be pushed into the transfer case, causing an over full condition.
