Hi! I've got a 2000 and it's doing a very similar thing. Have you gotten a resolution to your problem? Please let me know - this is driving me nuts!!!!!!! Thanks! Paul [email protected]

Hi guys, It could be the transfer case shift motor, a vacuum leak, or most likely the TCCM (transfer case control module.) It is located by the pass side kick panel. 3 10mm nuts hold it on the side. 2 harnesses plug in it. I had the same problem a few months ago.
I bought 2 (not at a time, they're $369.00 a piece!) from an auto parts store that in turn gets them fom a recycler. Both that where sent to me did not work. (for I have autotrak II.) I ended up buying a new one at the dealer. for about $30.00 more. It worked right away.
P.S. do not ever activate the shift motor when removed from the t case. it will permanately destroy it.
