95 Blazer fuel issue
95 Chevy Blazer 4.3ltr 6cyl 4WD 2 door
For several months, I've had an issue with the ignition, it took several tries to start and sometimes would even try to start itself (without the key in) if I didn't back it off just right before removing the key. I knew I had a new problem though when after starting it the other day, it died on me.
Over the weekend, a friend helped me change the starter and the spark plugs, I bought a new ignition which I am (attempting) replacing now. The main issue however is that I'm not getting fuel. Last night, we cracked the fuel line on both ends of the fuel filter -
no fuel. There are 3 relay positions behind the glove box but only 2 in use. I swapped the 2 that are in use, since they both had the same part number but no change, so I'm figuring it's not the relay but would like opinions - at this point, is it possible that it's anything besides the in-tank fuel pump?
The day before this problem revealed itself, it threw a code but I haven't been able to get my hands on the thing that reads the codes yet (hopefully will be able to borrow one this afternoon). The service engine light went off about 2 hours after it came on. I'm very curious to hear ideas about my fuel issue - I think this forum is great and has become a great source of info for me. Thanks - I really appreciate your collective knowledge!

Before you go dropping the fuel tank... see if you are getting voltage to the fuel pump. In other words... is the fp relay "clicking" on when you turn on the key? If not then I believe that you still have a problem in the ignition switch area.
Try jumpering the fp relay and see if the truck will start.

gscrippler - I checked out the fuses and found out why my 4WD wasn't working so though it didn't help as far as the fuel problem, it helped a great deal with something I was going to work on eventually - thanks!
bandidolenny - thank you so much for your response, that's exactly what I was wondering but I haven't figured out how to go about that yet. Would it be possible for you to direct me on that or point me in the right direction? Meanwhile, I'm consulting the Haynes manual and researching on here. Thank you, a great deal!

Thank you reelbroke, I appreciate your response.
I guess my specific question is, where is the connection that I want to test with the multimeter? I'm having a devil of a time finding it.
This isn't good but not as bad as when my 'spider' injector was clogged and had to be replaced. As soon as my blazer died this time, that was the first thing that crossed my mind.

Thanks reelbroke ... I ended up testing with the multimeter, the gray wire which appeared to be the correct one in the schematic and if that was the correct one, there was no voltage to the pump.
gscrippler - when this project began, I described my problem to the parts person who recommended that I buy the tumbler or cylinder part of the ignition, rather than the ignition switch (I was ignorant about the whole thing at the time) but in the process of changing it and reading a thread in this forum that was accompanied by pics, I realize now that I actually need the switch itself so I'll buy one tomorrow when the store opens and finish that up. Hopefully this whole fuel problem is a part of the ignition problem and a fuel pump change won't be necessary. That's how it's looking at the moment. I'll post after the ignition 'switch' switch. -haha
I really appreciate having people to bounce this off of so thanks and I appreciate the previous threads that address these problems!
Edited to add: gscrippler - I'm sorry that I didn't answer your question originally, no I haven't been able to hear the fuel pump with the key on. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the ignition switch will solve the problem. What do you think, if I may ask? Also, I live very near a pull and pay salvage yard, do you think it would be a bad decision to buy a used switch?
