Default 95 Blazer won't start

Hello,

Here's the problem my 95 Blazer won't start. I can start with the good points, the battery is good, all my fuses are good, the radio and lights work and the fuel pump is working. The starter is not turning over. All that happens when I try to turn the engine over is the sound of nothing and I get the "magic Smoke." The smoke is coming from a wire connected to the drive side fender where all the power wires are located. I figure that I have a short or Ground somewhere, but where should I look first?

Thanks for any help

Remove the connections from the starter and try to jump 12 volts directly to it. You should be able to "jump" it regardless of key postion. Leads me to believe that if it IS a short then all you'd have to do is trace the wires back to the problem area.
If it doesn't turn pull it and have it bench tested. Check the teeth on the drive gear when/if you get it out.
