95' issue with stopping and dying.

hello friends I need your expert advice.
earlier this year I had to take my beloved blazer into a shop because I had what they said was a blown head gasket. After having this done and was robbed (cost= $2000), the truck would randomly die. Mostly when it seemed to have been running for a while, or when stopped at a light or to slow down for a turn.
I just last month had a mechanic friend of a friend install a brand new fuel pump.
the truck drove home fine, but then started acting up again, so I parked it.
a good example of the symptoms are : "When it heats up I find that I can go down the highway for miles and it runs just fine but when I come to a stop sign or stop light when it is hot and has been running for a while it will just die I then put it in park and it runs again until I have to stop (has gas smell as well). I can let it sit for a few minutes and it will start back up, but still acts like it's idling hard or not getting fuel correctly, so I am forced to keep it parked.
I know next to nothing about engine repair, so I listen to advice and comments from friends who know friends, and from other mechanically inclined folks, and now you, the experts.
I have been told three possible examples of what could be wrong.
1. a bad Crank Sensor
2. a bad Ignition Control Module
3. the fuel pump was put in wrong
please advise...
thank you for taking the time to help if you can

I'd do a search in here for EGR Cleaning. It's probably in the DIY section.
IMO any or all of those 3 examples wouldn't allow you to get to highway speeds in the 1st place.
Does a '95 have an Absolute Manifold Pressure sensor?
