Exclamation 95 Jimmy no Fuel pressure KOEO

ok i did a fuel pressure check because ive been getting horrible gas mileage. I looked at a couple of other threads but none were like mine...

There is no pressure at the schader valve with the key on engine off. I believe the spider is leaking but would it be leaking that fast for no pressure to build.

When i start the truck the pressure jumps to 58-60 psi i think i didnt write it down.

Where should i begin to look?

Yes, i can hear the fuel pump priming when i turn the key forward.

thanks guys.

If it was leaking that fast into the plenum, it would barely run and you would have fuel in your oil.

The truck shouldn't start if there is zero pressure in the line...

thats the weird thing, it starts right up lol. it Runs good, but doesnt run right(well to me at least)

But i just found out today that i was never filling it up all the way so i gotta recalculate my gas mileage. Then we will see.

Also what size gas tank is in that???

my girlfriend put some gas in it, and then i topped her off today, but she doesnt remember how much was put in.

I need to know to calculate the gas mileage. Thanks.

Does the pump run when you turn the key on?

yea i can hear the pump

Another funny thing is when the truck has been driving all day(hard hot starts) and you shut it off and go to start it back up, it just cranks and will eventually start, But if i just turn the key forward and wait 3 or 4 secs and then try to start BAWM! it fires instantly...

Sounds to me like the check valve in the fuel pump is letting the fuel pressure bleed off. Kind of a common problem... Run the truck with the fuel pressure guage installed and then turn off the engine and notice if the pressure bleeds down over about the next hour.
Takes a new pump to fix the problem. (a good quality Delco or Delphi pump)

Calculate fuel mileage by dividing the number of miles driven (trip odometer set at zero when you refill) by the amount of gallons you put in.

For example, your trip odometer reads 200 miles. You put in 10.6 gallons. Divide 200 by 10.6 and you come up with 18.86 MPG

alright i finally got the correct mileage, the old lady added gas a couple of times with out me knowing throwing off my calculations lol.

i put in 16.7 and drove 233 miles. which came out to 13.95 miles so about 14 miles to the gallon

I just did the spark plugs before which bumped me up 15 more miles to the tank but still only 14 miles per gallon.

Spark plugs were the orginal 1995 plugs YIKES way over gapped.

What are some other ways to increase the gas mileage?

The check valve in the fuel pump could it cause poor gas mileage?
