I have a 1995 GMC Jimmy 196,xxx miles and I need help before i spend a lot of money.

The Problem: When I am at an idol the truck seems like it is running rough and sometimes there is a small drop in rpm's. When i am out of the vehicle and standing next to the drivers side door I can smell exhaust (vehicle is running). When I turn the vehicle off i can smell excess fuel. It starts fine and has only stalled twice in the last 6 months.

What I have done: replaced the EGR and installed aftermarket screen gasket (4 mo) and I have changed the fuel filter (3 mo).

My guess is its either the Fuel Pressure Regulator or I have an exhaust leak by my door. Either way I want to get it fixed, just one is cheaper then the other. Thanks.
