95 Jimmy Won't Start

Car shakes in park and hear an engine pop
I have a '95 Jimmy . I replaced the spider injector with one i pulled from a car at a salvage yard.. since the poppets looked cruddy I scrubbed them with water and a toothbrush .. i also disconnected the sparkplug wires and rewired them to the distributor according to chilton's manual. The car starts right up but when i accelerate i hear an occasional poppin in the engine. The car also shakes when i am parked. I can gain speed easily but it seems to run rough. could the injection system be the problem? if so can i simply change the poppets off? i see locking screws holding them in.

Car vibrates and shakes in Park
Hi I just changed the spider injector on my 1995 GMC Jimmy .. The car seems to run fine accerlerating but it shakes. I checked the vacuum lines and they seem to be fine .. I checked the PCV valve and it still rattles .. I have 60psi on the fuel guage .. What could this be?

fuel
I experienced the same problem with my 2000 blazer. Seems the great "Ethanol" attacks the zinc (galvanized coating) in the tank and these little particles clog the fuel filter resulting in high initial pressure than extreme drop upon starting causing a lean condition which will not support combustion. Replace fuel filter but be sure to purge line from fuel pump to filter fitting before installing filter. If not, all the trash which made it through the fuel pickup sock and is now stuck in the line up to the fuel filter will quickly clog the new filter. I have someone turn the switch to run, Not start, For about 7 seconds with the line in a Mason jar to flush. A mason jar is great for this as you can seal it and watch for phase separation over the next 24 hours and determine the condition of your fuel (ie.-water, rust or dead fuel). I have done this test 13 times this year and had to drop 13 tanks to clean and cure the problem. This Ethanol is bad news for pre 2001 vehicles as it attacks Metal, rubber and plastic. Try to find a station selling 100% Gasoline and stick to it. To make matters worse the gas moguls have the ok to start selling E-85 which is even worse than the current E-90. I also run Lucas fuel injection cleaner every other fillup with no problems since. This is just in addition to what the other members recommended correctly. I wish you luck.
