so i have this 95 s-10, 4.3 vortec. i have been told that i may only replace the 4l60e tranny with the same year tranny. is this true? furthermore, how can i verify what tranny is in it now. i bought the truck used and it looks as though the tranny has been worked on or possibly replaced.

 

95 was an oddball year for most GM vehicles computer wise. Your Blazer has a 4L60E tranny... I believe that you are not limited to just the 1995 year model but I am not sure... A salvage yard will be able to check what years will work.
Anyone else know for sure?
