hello to all
today without any prior noises clicks or banging while on the expressway we heard a very brief short grindy noise for about 3 seconds.. exited the highway and stopped.. no leaks on the ground. fluid is full. found we dont have reverse... at very low speed like when coming to a stop, there is a slight whinning noise. it shifts 1 to 2 at about 3500 on the tach... it never did that. it was always smooth...
are there any electronic components that could cause my problems or is it most likely going to be a 2000 repair??
your replys will be appreciated.

Unless you have skill with an automatic trans, this looks like a job for a tranny shop to diagnosis.[sm=boohoo.gif]But, it may not be as bad as you fear.

had it towed to a garage today. The diagnosis!!!!
its something internal, and we can fix it..
$2400.00 dollars later
it seems to be running fine, so far
certified reman transmission says to bring it back to the installer after 2 weeks so they can check for leaks and whatever..
glad I wasn't having a problem of it not starting
I'm sure the diagnosis would have been
internal under the hood
you need a reman engine
yup that ought to cover it..
I didnt really want to take a vacation this year anyway..

Man, I'm really sorry to hear that news. From what I understand, a reman'ed trans is better than a repair on the old one. Did they give you a warranty on the new one and did they tell you exactly what went out on the original one? FWIW, I'm a believer in doing a pan drop with fluid and filter change about every 25-30k miles.
