You could also test the compression on that cylinder. Poor compression will cause a misfire code as well.

Success! Put the new distributor cap in and I'm in business. It immediately ran smoothly again and has not sent any new codes! Thanks for the advice and ideas. I have to buy one of these code readers. That was key!
