Default 96 Blazer help lower intake now prob

Hello Everyone, I have a 96 Blazer and recently did the lower intake manifold on it. After reassembly on startup it sounds like a poping/knocking of some sort kinda of sounds like the injectors are poping. People keep saying the timing is off and need to check the retard on the cam. I have TDC on the compression stroke and set Dist. to >6. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this before any suggestions any sort of help. Thank you

did you make sure that you didn't cross your wires?

Yeah, I would definitely check your wires for proper order. Then I would verify the distributor timing.

Yea I doubled checked all my wires and even labeled them so I wouldnt get mixed up. I did the timing several times, it runs but not good it will stay running I'm thinking the cam retard is off. What does the Cam Retard actually do?

There is no such thing... At least not something that you can mess up..

Have you tried setting the distributor down in a tooth in either direction?

Traced out each of your plug wires to make sure they are going to the proper plug?

ok doubled checked wires, tried the 1 tooth ahead and 1 back and it threw codes and was a little harder starting up. So I put it back to TDC rotor pointed at number 1 like I had it started right up but still has that noise there. any other suggestions.

Well I hooked it up to a scan tool. Checked all data. Came out with cam retard at 0 degress everything else looked good but was just wondering what the spark is suppose to be at it said 20-26 degress. Its still knocking and other suggestions would be helpful.

You obviously have a pretty good idea what you're doing... sometimes stuff like this is related to accidentally disconnected vacuum hoses... or other disconnected wires... just another idea.
