Wow installed a new PCM from wait4me and I can't believe how bad my ride actually was. It doesn't seem to be cutting out anymore. But also no more shift flares, no more PWM flutters between 45-55mph, no more phantom P1406 EGR codes, no more phantom P0122 TPS problems, no more flickering dash lights, and shift quality is much much improved. I think my original pcm was one of the ones with the bad internal ground!!!

Those knock off spider injectors are junk!! I have been thru 4 of them in 60k miles. The orignal unit lasted 17 years. The first one I installed lasted 5 minutes. If it isn't that you either have a weak fuel pump/relay, clogged fuel filter, or a faulty e.g.r. Valve.

3 years later...

Same vehicle and starting to cut out on highway again.

If i dont let it warm up for 5 minutes prior to driving the tcc will never engage. No trouble codes but i wish there were.

Im thinking maybe try another new used computer?

I realize this might be too late to help, but since you have a 1996 model, check the TSBs in this post:. https://blazerforum.com/forum/2nd-ge...ed-help-93067/

Problems this solved for me were the following: periodic TPS and EGR codes, typically low voltage codes; ABS and brake light coming on randomly for a second or two with no codes; periodic stalling (the car would restart by the time I pulled over to crank the engine); truck slamming into gear after ABS and Brake light come on and car is restarted; racing, unsteady or high idle; torque converter lock up jumping in an out at about 40 mph.

OK guys... Fixed it.

Problem was distributor cap/rotor phasing. Jimmy was constantly cutting out under load and wouldn't always lock up the torque converter. The Jimmy was misfiring which wasn't allowing the TCC to engage. Problem was made worse when it was damp out. For some reason it wasn't misfiring enough to illuminate the P0300.

What I did was cut a hole in an old cap to see where it was firing. The angle was bad at idle but way worse when revving the engine. I had to notch out the metal distributor hold down tab a good 1/4" to get everything reasonable. No more issues.
