Default '96 misfiring on 2 cylinders

Not sure if this is the right area for this post. If not, sorry. I have a 1996 that refused to start on Christmas day. Towed it to the shop and now a week later, it runs, but it isn't firing on 2 cylinders. All options the mechanic knew have been exhausted and he's out of ideas. Hoping you all may have one that he hasn't tried.(I think he's pretty old school.) Thanks!

Wel,, we don't know what he tried, but which cylinders are missing out? What is the condition of the distributor cap and rotor? Is the SES light on and, if so, what codes are stored?

by chance did they just mess the wires up and put 2 on backwards? check your wires to make sure they're going to the proper spark plugs. oh and TRACE them - don't go by the numbers that might be on the wires themselves. follow where they go on the actual engine

update: just went and picked it up and it is missing on 3 and 4. The cap and rotor are new. Spark plugs are new and the wires were in good condition and not replaced.

seriously - did you check to see if by chance those 2 wires are mixed up @ the distro cap? just because everything appears to be right does not make for the proper order. u also might want to consider pulling those 2 plugs to make sure they're actually in good condition and not fouled up now from all the mis firing.
