Default 96 tranny won't shift into park

I had to change the pan gasket on the tranny. no problem done in 30 minutes. put the cable bracket back on and adjusted the linkage. It worked for a shift or 2 then would not go to Park. No problem I just readjusted it. same thing. Everything is in free and works fine. The cable is attached on both ends. I can go under and push it into park easily. What on earth am I missing? Any help would be awesome.

Is the adjustment holding? Have you tried taking it one click further than you have it now?

Default found it!!

I finally figured out my problem...the floor board on the cab had a factory small hole that allowed water in under the carpet and insulation and it rotted the cable houseing to where it finally broke the cable sheild.
I went to the junk yard and found one today for 35,00 bucks because they took it off.He said it would have been 10.00 if I did it ! I was in a suit and at lunch. Well im off to replace it now
